
Last summer at Bodega Head, Sonoma County, I captured an image of what appears to be a yellow-faced bumble bee, Bombus vosnesenskii, nectaring on a bull thistle. Was it? It could be Bombus caliginosus, according to bumble bee expert John Ascher on iNaturalist.
